We had a great first day of nature camp with some old and new friends! After a little playtime, we played listening games outside. We heard lots of birds and crickets! Then we played a game inside with some objects Ms. Claire found in the garden - bark, a gum ball, clover, a stick, and a leaf. She covered the objects with a bandana and the children had to guess which one was missing. Then the children took turns doing the same. One of our new friends really enjoyed the ball tracker! And I love the way Baby L. is checking out the action from the Ergo carrier. After the game, we noticed there was a squirrel out by the picnic tables. He was there for quite a while, giving the children a chance to observe his antics. For our art project, we made two types of butterflies. The first was painted and then folded over to demonstrate symmetry. The second was made with food coloring and coffee filters. We'll be sending home all the finished products on Friday. After art, we enjoyed playing outside and scrubbing the pirate ship to clean it! The weather wasn't very summery so we decided to wait to bring out the big water play until tomorrow. We had a picnic lunch in the garden. In this picture some of our current students are showing their new friends how we say the blessing before eating. Our blessing is to the tune of 'Frere Jaques' God our Father, God our Father, Once again, once again We ask your blessing, we ask your blessing Amen, Amen After lunch we got cleaned up and played some parachute games until it was time to go. In this picture the children are 'waking up' their sleeping friends. A great time was had by all and we can't wait to see you tomorrow!
