We joyfully began our 18th school year at Cross of Life today! The children came in ready and eager to get back into the school routine. We had a lovely lunch together today, set-up by our oldest children. Once the children had cleared their places, washed their dishes and tidied up, we headed out to the garden. There, we made a very exciting discovery! At first, we only thought there was one caterpillar. And so we observed as it made its way over to the Oak Leaf Hydrangeas and enjoy the shade. Then, the children were delighted to find more caterpillars than they could count on the parsley, enjoying the sun. These are Parsley worms, also known as Black Swallowtail caterpillars. We are also hoping that they will make this parsley their home so we can get a front row seat watching them transform into butterflies. What a joy it is to make such discoveries with the children! Happy first day of school!
