Today at camp, we visited the farm. We started the day reading and singing about farm animals. Then we played a game where we 'herded' a bunch of balloons down the hall, around the corner, and into the room. For our art project, we made 'stained glass' pigs using paper, tissue paper, and vinegar. We also made some fuzzy sheep using cotton balls. Our science experiment today was really cool. It's called 'galaxy slime' and the children were fascinated by the way the ingredients came together. We mixed liquid starch, clear glue, glitter, food coloring, and water to make the slime. Here is link to the instructions and video: https://www.facebook.com/FreeFlys/videos/1297567230270982/ A word of warning: this made a huge, sticky mess. I think it's best suited as an outdoor activity followed by a dip in the wading pool :) We also tried some sponge grow animals. We put them in warm water and waited for the capsule to dissolve. It was a great surprise to see the animals 'open up' and guess what they were supposed to be. We ended our day with water play in the garden, including scrubbing off some chairs that had been slimed! One of the things the children really seemed to enjoy most was simply having some basins, shaving cream, cornstarch, and water. They loved mixing items together in the basins and came up with many creative ideas! A fabulous time was had by all this week! We hope you have a fun, relaxing, and safe summer, and we'll see you in August!
